5.3. Creating a Network Service Profile

Now that we have a Service Connection Profile for Bluetooth, we need to set up a Network Profile for using TCP over Bluetooth, on this connection we just created. Follow along, as before:

Go into Prefs->Network, and tap on "New", to create a new Network Profile.

From the "Connection" dropdown, you'll now see your new "Bluetooth to PC" connection profile we created earlier. Select it, as shown here:

Model settings similar to these below. Make sure you give your profile a descriptive service name. Remember, this profile is for network connectivity, not just over Bluetooth. Calling this network profile "Bluetooth" would be misleading. Note that I've called mine 'Unix' here.

From here, tap on "Details", and make sure the settings match the following two screenshots. Specifically that the DNS and IP address are automaticallly set, and that the "Script" portion simply has "End", and no other values. We'll use this in a bit.

That's it. The hardest parts are over, and the good news is that you now have two profiles which you can use to sync over Bluetooth, TCP, ppp, and other methods. Quick, fast, and easy.

Now let's get onto the fun stuff!
