The first package that needs to be configured and built is pilot-link. Before we do this, however, we must make sure that your system does NOT have an existing pilot-link installed on it. If it does, we have to configure pilot-link in a slightly different fashion. DO NOT IGNORE THIS STEP!

pilot-link is the foundation behind a lot of packages, such as gnome-pilot, gnome-pilot-conduits, J-Pilot, K-Pilot, PilotManager, and others. It provides the logic and the subsystem to manage the different types of file formats, protocols, and data on a Palm handheld.
